.. CBN has described reports on CBN ordering Deposit Banks to accept old #1000, #500 notes as fake.

The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN has asked the general public to disregard the information on CBN ordering Banks To accept Old #1000, #500 notes against president Muhammadu Buhari's earlier order asking the apex Bank to recirculate only old #200 notes.

CBN described the information as fake. The apex Bank stated this in a press release and posted same on their tweeter handle disassociating itself from the report. And also urged the press to verify information before publishing to avoid misleading the people
