As at today, many commercial bank ATMs did not dispense money.
A visit to Zenith, UBA, Fidelity and other banks around ogba, Lagos showed that their ATMs where not loaded with money and could not dispense cash.
One of the managers in of the commercial banks told our correspondent that they are losing money everyday as the ATMs are not dispensing money. She made this statement when a customer accused them of hoarding the new notes. She noted that since three days their ATMs
have stopped dispensing money and they have lose huge money. She said, “we can’t have the new notes and hoard them knowing that we would be losing money in the process.”
She added that they were given directives not to load the machines with old naira notes, but they can pay same across the counter.
Many of the bank customers were not happy as they collected the old notes in the bank. One of the customers made a remark saying, “ they ask us to deposit old notes in the bank yet the bank is giving us the same old notes.”
